Where did you go to college?
Texas State University…although it was SWTSU at the time!
What is your hometown?
I have been in San Marcos since 1968…so I consider this my hometown.
What is your favorite thing about Austin?
The progressive nature of the city and its people.
Tell us about your family…
I have a large and diverse family. My father was a genetic researcher at Texas A&M and professor at SWTSU; my mom is from the Caribbean and after college did her study in social work. After their four children were self sufficient, she worked as an ESL teacher in the public schools. Brother #1 is retired and lives on his ranch in Bee and Live Oak counties; Brother #2 has a successful business in Lakeway, Chase Carpets; my sister lives in Lubbock and her family lives for Texas Tech, where my nephew will start his football career in the fall of 2008. I have a 16-year-old daughter at San Marcos Baptist Academy, who counts the days until her return to Camp Mystic in July of every year. “Kiowas Rule!” is the credo of my branch of the family. It’s a good life, and I feel blessed to have my parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and even great nieces and nephews close to my daughter and me.
How long have you been in the title or real estate related business?
I started in the title business in 1980 and worked for 11 years in escrow… back when we prepared the HUD and the checks on a typewriter, in triplicate! I spent 1991 to 2004 buying historic homes to renovate and re-sell. In 2004 I rejoined the title industry to work in marketing. I enjoy helping my clients stage their homes, contributing on renovation plans, as well as working to improve the San Marcos community through committees as both an affiliate member and a Realtor within the San Marcos Area Board of Realtors and the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce.
